The U-TOUCH Team

Judi Bowes: Judi is an artistic and creative spirit. She has inspired thousands of youth to actualize their artistic abilities. Judy has led creative educational initiatives in numerous settings such as the famous San Diego Zoo and School in the Park. She infuses U-TOUCH with inventiveness and high esthetic standards.

Oceng Denis Paul (ICT Trainer in Pader): Beyond Oceng’s expertise as an Information Technology consultant he brings a strong interest and concern about child protection issues. He also has expertise in land legislation, policy and rights protection in Uganda. He is a champion for children’s rights, leading his team toward a better and bright future.

Ochan Charles (ICT Trainer in Gulu): In addition to providing ICT training in Gulu, Charles is a youth counselor, providing counseling, guidance, life and job skills training to enable the disadvantaged youth to compete in the local job market and become fully effective individuals. Health education is another interest and by fostering AIDS and other STI awareness and furthering other health education goals he continues to improve the outlook for his students. Charles enjoys creating new opportunities and possibilities to the disadvantaged community in northern Uganda so that all may reach their potential in life.

Deborah Plotkin (Executive Director): Deborah is the spark, inspiration and source of boundless energy of U-TOUCH. She brings to her role extensive experience in international development, innovative educational approaches, cross-cultural awareness and communication. She has led projects around the world including building schools high atop Himalayan mountains in Nepal as well as establishing a student sponsorship program enabling impoverished children in northern Uganda unable to afford tuition and school related fees the opportunity to receive an education. She has been a champion for children’s rights and for those with disabilities in the US and Africa.

Tabu Joseph (ICT Trainer in Kitgum): It is with a warm heart, a deep respect for his culture and heritage and a strong drive that motivates Tabu to strengthen the people of northern Uganda. He is a man of integrity. He teaches technology and inspires his students to actualize their dreams. He is a master at helping others make lifetime change.
